Tiramisu

Tiramisu

Hi Readers,

Do you love a good dessert after a good meal as much as I do? I love a good tiramisu even though it is one of the few desserts that are not cooked in any way. The halal version I mean.

Below is a recipe of tiramisu that my late Aunt Hayati used to make.

Tiramisu Recipe (Late Aunt Hayati version)

Ingredients:

6 eggs (Separate the yolk and egg white)

250 g Mascarpone (any brand will do)

15 Lady fingers biscuits (any brand will do but Boudouis recommended)

(Instant or normal) Coffee Powder + water + sugar

1 Sachet of Vanilla sugar

125 g Fine sugar

Cocoa powder (foe decoration)

Instructions:

1) Beat the yolks and fine sugar until creamy

2) Add the mascarpone to the mixture, a little at a time, and mix it at a low speed

3) Once all mixed, add the vanilla sugar and continue mixing until well mixed.

4) In a separate mix bowl, beat the egg whites until firm and thick.

5) Add the beaten egg whites into the cream mixture, a little at a time, folding in slowly until well-mixed

6) In a separate bowl, prepare the coffee mixture by using coffee powder, water and sugar. The thickness and sweetness is up to your preferred taste.

7) Once coffee mixture is done, dip each lady finger biscuit in the coffee mixture, making sure the biscuits are soak and absorbed the coffee mixture.

8) Get a square or rectangle bowl with high border. Placed the soaked lady finger biscuits in the bowl, arranging them in a line.

9) Once done, pour the cream mixture over the biscuits until the cream covers the biscuits

10) Create another layer by repeating step 8 & 9, until all the biscuits are place in the bowl.

11) After that, sprinkle cocoa powder on the top on the cream as a finishing touch.

12) Once done, placed the bowl in the refrigerator for about 4 hours, until it hardens.

13) Remove form the refrigerator, and it is ready to serve.

Note: This recipe is the halal version which means there is no alcohol in it.
