Marble Pound Cake Recipe

Marble Pound cake

Hi Readers. Another favourite cake of mine is the marble pound cake. It is always requested by my grandmother to bake this cake on Hari Raya. You can also bake this cake for any occasion.

Ever wondered how to bake this?  This is a modified recipe my mother used. Let's take a look.

Ingredients:

12 Eggs (Separate the egg yolks and egg whites)
375g Salted Butter
1.5 (1 & 1/2)  teaspoon Vanilla Essence
375g Caster Sugar
400g Plain Flour
50g Cocoa Powder
0.75 (3/4) teaspoon Baking Powder

Instructions:

1) Separate 150g of the plain flour and mix with the 50g cocoa powder. Sift the mix into a bowl and set aside.
2) Sift the remaining 200g of plain flour into a separate bowl and set aside.
3) Beat the butter and the vanilla essence with mixer until fluffy.
4) Add in egg whites and baking powder and beat again with mixer until fluffy.
5) Add in sugar and beat until well mix and sugar is dissolve.
6) Add in egg yolks and beat again until mix well.
7) Then add in the butter, beat using mixer until all mix well and fluffy.
8) Separate the batter into 2 separate bowls, making sure it is the same amount in each bowl.
9) Pick one bowl of batter and fold in (by hand preferably) the 200g of plain flour previously set aside. Mix well.
10) Use the second bowl of batter and fold in the plain flour & cocoa powder mix into it. Mix well.
11) You should have 2 bowls, one whitish batter, the other brown batter.
12) Take your baking cake tray and start scooping in the two batter layer by layer to create the marble effect. You can also use a stick to mix parts of the batter to create the marble effect.
13) Once done, place the cake tray in the oven at 150 degrees celcius and bake for about 1 hour or 60 mins.
14) Once baked, remove from the oven and it cool for about 1 hour. Cut and ready to serve.

Happy baking! Do share and pin to grow this blog.
