Berkat Kahwin Idea | Wedding Favours (not edible)

Hi readers. So you decided you don't want to give edible wedding favours to your guest and want something else. Sure, no problem. Let's get to see some of the best options for a Malay Muslim wedding.

10 Best Wedding Favours | Berkat Kahwin ideas (Not Edible)

1) Mugs / Cups

2) Cutlery set

3) Salt & Pepper shakers

4) Scented candles & candle holders

5) Hand, Tea or Face Towels

6) Religious items

7) Handmade Soaps / Shower gels

8) Perfume/ Mist sprays

9) Tupperware / plastic containers

10) Glass Bottles / glass containers

1) Mugs / Cups

A popular wedding favours choice, mugs or cups are the go to berkat choice. This can be personalised but can be expensive. The quality of the mugs/ cups differs for different price ranges. Some people I know used IKEA mugs as the wedding favours before. Cups like simple tea cups were also given before. Only downside is that as mugs/ cups are usually made from ceramics, they can break easily if not handled properly.

2) Cutlery Set

A simple choice for wedding favours, a cutlery set (fork and spoon) can be given. Nowadays, there are many designs for the cutlery set and like the mugs, they can be personalised. The quality of the cutlery set depends on the different price ranges.

3) Salt & Pepper shakers

Similar to cutlery sets, Salt and pepper shakers comes in unique designs and can be personalised. They also comes in unique shapes, e.g. as birds. Like mugs, they are made of ceramic or some even in glass.

While smaller then mugs or cups, salt and pepper shakers can still break easily if not transported properly.

Here are some examples available in amazon.sg: https://amzn.to/3pviOcl

4) Scented candles & candle holders

The craze of scented candles have been rising recently and having them for wedding favours is a great choice especially if given together with a candle holder. The scent can be personalised up to your choice and so as the candle holder. While it can be used anywhere around the house, candles are still a fire hazard.

5) Hand, Tea or Face Towels

Another wedding favour choice that can be personalised is a simple towel is also often given. Some may place in a container or just in a bag and folded into rose-like or simple shapes. This is a great choice as it doesn't break easily, easy to store and is a commonly used item at home. Some places you can get them is from IKEA.

6) Religious items

The more religious may choose to give religious items as wedding favours. As most Malays are Muslims, religious items like a mini praying mat (sejadah) and prayer beads (tasbih) are some of the choices given as wedding favours. While it is a good idea, it seems odd to give such items to a non-Muslim if you invited any.

As  Singaporeans, we are bound to have non-Muslim friends, neighbours and co-workers that you will invite to the wedding. Unless you have a separate wedding favour for them, then something religious might not be considered.

7) Handmade Soaps / Shower gels

Handmade Soaps or Shower gels are another new popular wedding favours. Similarly to candles, it can be personalised to any scent you want and for soaps, even any shape, from flowers to animals. As it is handmade, you are also supporting a local business.

You can also find some in amazon.sg like bath bombs and rose-shaped soaps.

8) Perfume/ Mist sprays

Perfume or mist sprays are one of my favourite choice for wedding favours. Like the soaps and candles, the scent can be personalised but unlike soap and candles, the scent choices for perfumes and mist sprays are much greater. You can pick the more old-school, religious scents like Oud or the more flowery ones. You can even create your own special blend if you want. Though the strength of the scent differs depending on the price range.

9) Small Tupperware / plastic containers

Normally Tupperware or plastic containers are given as a storage for edible wedding favours. An example is giving Tupperware or plastic container with some chocolates or nuts inside them. It is rare to be given an empty container as a wedding favour.

10) Small Glass Bottles / glass containers

Similar to the Tupperware or plastic containers, glass bottles or glass containers are usually given as storage for edible favours. Some examples of this are also nuts or chocolates stored in the containers or even honey or jam. As they can break easily if not transported properly, additional precaution is needed for this.
